I conduct evaluations for a number of learning issues for ages 6 to 15 in areas such as reading, math, and writing.  A typical learning disorders evaluation consists of several things, including but not limited to:

1. A social history covering academic, medical, and behavioral histories

Some information is gathered in a form I send to you.  I will then follow up by email or phone if I need further information.  I will also need to see previous testing results if applicable.

2. An IQ or intelligence test

I generally prefer the WISC-V for these types of evaluations as it provides more information but I also have the RIAS-2 if the student has recently had the WISC-V.  There is a description of the tests on the FAQs page.

3.  An academic test such as the Woodcock-Johnson Tests of Achievement - 4th Edition and/or the Tests of Dyslexia (TOD).

This assesses a student's mastery of reading, writing, and math skills.

4.  Possibly cognitive tests such as the Woodcock-Johnson Tests of Cognitive Abilities- 4th Edition.

These assess aspects of learning such as memory, speed, auditory and visual processing, etc., if further examination is required or beneficial to understanding a student's needs.

5. Behavioral checklists completed by the parent and preferably one or more teachers.

These look at other factors that can affect learning such as anxiety, attention, etc.

Pricing depends on which tests are deemed necessary but usually falls between $900 and $1200 at my home.  That includes testing, report-writing (including recommendations for interventions), and discussion of the results.  It can be broken into multiple payments with a signed agreement.

Testing can take 3 to 5 hours minimum and can be broken into multiple days.  I prefer to gather the background information and checklists before testing, so we usually schedule a testing date at least two to three weeks after the initial contact.  It is your responsibility to distribute checklists and request their return to me.

I prefer to do the testing at my home in Brandon (provided there are no serious pet allergies) as it allows me access to my entire test battery.  It is difficult to travel with all the equipment I have.

I do not take insurance or provide billing codes as I am not trained to do so, and some insurance companies may not cover testing by school psychologists.

While I can provide some information about attention issues such as ADHD or about intellectual disabilities (e.g., lower IQs), those evaluations ARE usually covered by insurance so I suggest contacting your provider for a list of people they work with.

Thank you.  I will be updating the site in the future.
